How to make it through that door, when you barely feel like getting out of the sofa?

As a chronic pain warrior, I know that this can be a genuine problem. I also used to feel fatigued all the time due to anxiety. Nature soothed and healed my feelings, yet it felt so hard just to get moving. I knew that the solution quite literally was out there – in the mountain, woods, and countryside, yet it felt too darn hard.
Here I will share my favorite tips that helped me when I first started. Once I created a habit of hiking, I got even more energy to keep on hiking more. The benefits just kept rolling over me, and nature helped my healing progress – and it can be the same for you.
Step 1: Start small og set smart goals:
Setting too big goals often leads to failure. It is a common misbelief that you have to hike for hours on end up the steepest mountain for it be impressive – let’s drop that thought right there. If you are wondering how to start hiking when you have no energy, the first clue is to start small and work your way up to bigger goals once the fatigue starts to shift.
You dont even have to walk that far to reap the benefits. A ten-minute stroll to the park will do, especially if you sit down for a while and focus on being present. What sounds do you hear? What smells are there? Just being outside in the fresh air, surrounded by nature, can lift your energy and mood several notches. Maybe you find the motivation for an even longer hike than you planned for?
Step 2: Find a hiking partner
Even though hiking alone can give you an immense feeling of freedom and help you focus inward on yourself, a hiking buddy can help you get out that door when you feel stuck. You can motivate each other and share beautiful nature experiences. If you feel insecure or need gear, an experienced hiking buddy is perfect. There are many local hiking clubs and local Facebook groups dedicated to connecting hiking lovers together. If you don’t know any in your group of friends, start by finding groups near you.
Step 3: Easy does it
It is all too easy to feel like a superhero once you have gotten outside and started moving. In the beginning, though, it is essential to take it slow and build up strength. Don’t burn out all your energy before you are even half-way – pace yourself and test your limits. You can build up from there.
Step 4: Find an appropriate hiking route
Planning is essential. Set yourself up for success by choosing an appropriate trail for your fitness level and bring enough supplies. Whereas you don’t need expensive equipment to get started, you do need a comfortable pair of shoes. Even if you are not going far, I suggest packing some food and drink with you. I think one of the best parts of hiking is sitting down with a nice cup of coffee or tea, and enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature.
Making it a routine
Once I got a taste for hiking, I wanted more. Once I got into the routine, it became an essential part of my life. I suggest you commit yourself to spend 30 minutes out in nature every day for 30 days to make it part of your lifestyle. If it feels too impossible to hike for 30 minutes, then at least try to sit outside in a park or garden instead. Your body and mind will thank you for it, I promise.
